Patrick McAllister

Patrick McAllister has over 25 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors. He specialises in public sector consultancy and has advised clients across a range of government departments and other public organisations. He focuses on programme and project management, financial management and performance improvement.

He has served on a HM Treasury advisory panel on departmental structures, financial management and performance efficiency with the aim of assisting HMT to drive performance improvement in central government. He has also carried out a review of budgetary mechanisms in the Police Service of Northern Ireland, conducted a strategic review for the States of Jersey and led a successful culture change assignment for a large government department.

Other assignments include:

  • Project management of the successful WorldSkills London 2011 and Skills Show 2012 events.
  • Advice on programme management and change management on business critical change and a systems renewal programme.
  • Project management of the implementation of a number of academies for the Department for Education.
  • Project management and merger support to a government department in merging two Non-Departmental Public Bodies.
  • Design and delivery of a masterclass in “coach the coaches” to enhance the skills of Jobcentre Plus coaches.
  • Research, stakeholder engagement and intelligence gathering for a government department’s engagement with the third sector.

He is a graduate accountant (FCMA) and has an MBA in Financial Management.

He is a non-executive director of the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE).
